Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound useful as an antiinflammatory agent, an anti-rheumatic and an antiasthmatic agent, existing in a culture product of a strain of a certain species, having inhibitory action on ELAM-1 adhesion. SOLUTION: The compounds are shown by formula I (R is H or methoxy) and formula II. The compounds are obtained by culturing Microtetraspora spiralis TA-0294 (FERM P-15,757), a newly separated strain from the natural world in a medium containing various nutritive substances under an aerobic condition, centrifuging or filtering the culture product to give a culture filtrate, adsorbing the filtrate, eluting with an organic solvent and purifying. The compound of formula I has the following properties. Appearance; yellow powder. Melting point: 126-130 deg.C. Molecular weight: 416. Molecular formula: C20 H20 N2 O8 . HRFAB mass spectrum: 455.0856. FAB mass spectrum: m/z 417(M+H)<+> . Specific rotatory power: +82.7 deg. (c=0.09 methanol). Solubility: soluble in chloroform, methanol, etc., insoluble in n-hexane and benzene. Distinction of basicity, acidity and neutrality: neutral. |
