Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve design of the whole escalator, and attain unific decorative harmony of the interior of a room and a building frame by sticking a tile to a side plate which is positioned between a moving handrail of the escalator and a skirt guard of a floor surface and is fixed to the skirt guard so as to stand up. SOLUTION: A mosaic tile 10 is stuck to an outside surface of a side plate 9 facing the ordinary stairs side of an escalator, and is formed as a tile wall surface. The side plate 9 is composed by installing a mosaic panel 12, where the mosaic tile 10 is stuck to a surface of a base board 13, on columns 11 by erecting the columns 11 at prescribed intervals from a skirt guard 6. Such an escalator can be harmonized even with indoor decoration by the tile wall surface to which the mosaic tile 10 is stuck. Since strength of the whole side plate 9, particularly, strength of a surface is reinforced, even when a user kicks it by the tip of a shoe, the side plate 9 is not recessed.
