Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly sort long materials by the prescribed number which are carried by a chain conveyor while keeping the condition where the long materials one by one in the longitudinal direction and the orthogonal direction. SOLUTION: Long materials A to be carried keeping the condition where the long materials are separated by a demarcating member 7 fitted with the prescribed intervals on a chain conveyor 1 are counted base on the signal from long member detectors 3, 4 and a demarcating member detector to eliminate the counting error caused by the small movement in the longitudinal direction of the long materials A on the chain conveyor 1. Even when the long materials A are loaded in an inclined condition and carried, independent counting is performed on each end part of the long materials, and the conveyor is turned in the reverse direction to correctly sort the long materials by the prescribed number.
