PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely execute an operation process with ease without any deterioration in a start, which complies with necessity in a stopping brake operating stage, in a device automatically operating a hydraulic brake system for a road surface vehicle. SOLUTION: In a road surface vehicle provided with an automatic transmission, a service bake system is automatically started after a short, time when a vehicle is stopped by means of target braking in a stopping stage, in which an engine is operated and a running gear in the transmission is kept putting in, due to traffic, so that a driver can dispense with an operation of a brake pedal 2, and the vehicle can be surely maintained in a stopping condition on a flat/steep running path. When the driver operates an acceleration pedal 3 whose position is monitored by means of a switching device, a parking brake operation of the service brake system of the vehicle is released.
