SOLUTION: In a data entry system that uses a facsimile equipment as an entry means, the system receives a transmission terminal identification signal TSI and a digital identification signal DCS from a facsimile equipment (205, 206), the facsimile equipment of the opposite party is specified based on the equipment number of the TSI and the identification information is acquired, and in the case of receiving the DCS, information such as an original size and vertical resolution in communication capability information and reception permission information are collated to make discrimination of propriety of reception (209). As a result, when the reception is rejected, a call is interrupted (214). On the other hand, when the reception is permitted, training processing and image data reception processing or the like are conducted (210-214).
