Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a well coated face by pushing coating liquid out of the slit of a die and continuously applying the coating liquid to the surface of at least one side of a traveling film. SOLUTION: Effective length of the lip face of a die is changed in accordance with the traveling speed of a film 1 without changing constitution of the coating device. The die is desirably provided with a plurality of slits 3-5 in the direction (d) of the traveling direction of the film. The effective length of the lip face of the die is changed by changing the number of the slit through which coating liquid is pushed out in accordance with the traveling speed of the film.
