Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound having high electric charge transportation ability and storage stability and usable for electrophotographic photoreceptors and organic electroluminescent elements. SOLUTION: This hydrazone compound is represented by formula I [(A) is o-arylene; Ar1 is arylene; Ar2 is aryl; R1 and R2 are each a halogen, an alkyl, an aryl, an alkoxy, etc.; R3 is an alkyl or an aryl; (s) and (m) are each an integer of 0-4; (n) is 0 or 1], e.g. a compound of formula II. The compound of formula I can readily be obtained by subjecting, e.g. a benzoazepin of formula III to ullman type reaction using a metal copper catalyst and a base and then subjecting the reaction product to Grignard reaction, etc., with a magnesium reagent, reacting the produced Grignard reagent with a formylating agent such as DMF and reacting the reaction product with hydrazine.
