Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a conveying operation to be effected with smooth movement on a curve and with very low limits on height by enabling a conveying path to be set very easily without requiring a rail to be laid. SOLUTION: As flat plates 16 are laid on the course of transfer of heavy objects, the joints between the flat plates 16 are sealed up to form a flat-surface conveying line 14. A plurality of pneumatically floating type conveying stands 12 having a plurality of air bags 26A, 26B (26) whereby an air layer is formed between each conveying stand 12 and the flat-surface conveying line 14 by blowing air downwards are connected to one another. The pneumatically floating type conveying stands 12 are vertically movably connected together by means of connecting plates 22, and air piping is laid so that the supply of air to the air bags 26 at the connections between the pneumatically floating type conveying stands 12 is effected earlier than to the other air bags 26. Heavy objects to be conveyed are put on pedestals 44 formed on the pneumatically floating type conveying stands 12, and are guided and conveyed together with the pneumatically floating type conveying stands 12.
