Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a link from being deformed or broken, by detecting com pressive load which an articulated robot link receives with abnormal, external force if any, and stopping the operation of the robot. SOLUTION: This buckling prevention mechanism 20 is constituted of a case 21, a shaft 22 whose one end is protruded to the outside of the case 21 and which slides inside the case 21, an elastic body 23 which is put between the case 21 and the shaft 22 and received compressive load, and a detector 24 which detects sliding of the shaft 22 on the case 21. When the shaft 22 receives excessive compressive force, it slides on the case 21 while pressing the elastic body 23. The detector 24 detects the sliding motion to stop a robot.
