Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool made of surface-coated cemented carbide whose artificial diamond covering layer is excellent in adhesion. SOLUTION: In a cutting tool made of surface-covering cemented carbide and formed by providing an artificial diamond covering layer on the surface of a cemented carbide substrate composed of tungsten carbide group cemented carbide, at least the cutting action region of a cutting blade ridge line part intersecting a cutting face with a flank on the cemented carbide substrate is made of a thermoforming flange-like swelling part. The thermoforming flange- like swelling part has length in the range of 0.01 to 0.05 mm, in the maximum length from the intersection point of the cutting face and the flank at any vertical sectional face. The artificial diamond covering layer has average layer thickness in the range of 10 to 50 μm. |
