Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the drying of lining monolithic refractories by a method in which only the monolithic refractories can be dried to the back of the applied body in a short time and at low temperature while preventing an occurrence of condensate on the surface of the refractories by heating the surface layer of the monolithic refractories by radiation with an infrared heating. SOLUTION: A hermetically sealing lid 6 which closes a degassing refining furnace 1 is provided with e.g./ six waveguides 3 for introducing microwave, e.g. three infrared electric light bulbs 4 and e.g. two air exhaust pipes 5 for air and vapor. The inside of the waveguides 3 and the inside of the refining furnace 1 are partitioned by quartz glasses 10 which allow an transmission of microwave while holding a gas tightness and metallic nets 11 are disposed between the insides of the exhaust pipes 5 and the inside of the refining furnace 1 so as to prevent the microwave from entering the exhaust pipes 5. For drying refractories 2, the inner pressure of the refining furnace 1 is reduced and then the infrared electric light bulbs 4 are lit and microwave is radiated on the refractories 2 to heat the refractories 2 such that the surface temperature of the refractories 2 is controlled at a given temperature above a boiling temperature of water.
