Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method for efficiently producing a bumpy material good in wt. accuracy by cutting and dividing a ceramic base material and to provide the method for producing a glass formed body by using the lumpy material consisting of the glass obtained by this method. SOLUTION: The treatment for increasing a local compression is applied onto one side surface of the ceramic base material and a notch is provided oppositely to the processing part on an opposite side surface, then the lumpy material is produced by imparting tensile stress to the notch part and dividing the ceramic base material. The glass formed body is produced by subjecting the lumpy material consisting of the glass obtained by this method to a wt. regulation, subjecting the material to a heat-softening treatment, then subjecting the material to press molding.
