Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the transition rolling behavior of a vehicle at the time of slalom traveling by switching a mode of a damping force characteristic variable type shock absorber, which is provided with four modes, in response to the detected rolling behavior direction of a vehicle. SOLUTION: A damping force characteristic basic mode switching means (c) switches a mode to a first mode that extension stroke side has a high damping force characteristic and the compression stroke side has a low damping force characteristic when the rolling behavior direction of the vehicle is set upward, and switches the mode to a second mode that the compression stroke side has a high damping force characteristic and the extension stroke side has a low damping force characteristic. At the time of slalom traveling and high-speed traveling of a vehicle, a damping force characteristic special mode switching means (d) performs the switching to a fourth mode that both the extension stroke side and the compression stroke side have a high damping force characteristic so that the transition rolling behavior in the initial time of the switching at the time of steering and the transition rolling behavior at the time of quick turning of the steering is immediately controlled by the high damping force characteristic without generating a response delay of switching.
