Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sludge dehydrating device capable of controlling the moisture content of dehydrated cake to a specified value or below and discharging the dehydrated cake stabilized in the quality of the moisture content and a method therefor. SOLUTION: This sludge dehydrating device is provided with sludge compression chambers A and B variable in volume between a pressurizing piston 11 in a pressure cylinder 3 and end disks 12, 13 at both ends. Risers 23, 33 connected to apertures 15, 16 formed at these end disks 12, 13 at both ends are respectively provided with dehydrated cake discharge valves 22, 22. Further, the device is provided with a volume sensor 30 for detecting the volume of the sludge compression chambers A and B and is provided with a computer 25 for comparing the moisture content computed from the volume value and the supply rate of the sludge with the liquid threshold value C of the dehydrated cake previously stored therein. The device is provided with an actuator 28 which opens the dehydrated cake discharge valve 22 in accordance with the result of the moisture content of the dehydrated cake compared by this computer 25.
