Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the sound reducing effect with a simple structure in a vehicle exhaust system having a spark arrestor integrated to the rear part of a muffler by partitioning the muffler inner part into a plurality of expansion chambers mutually communicating through a throttle passage by the separator and spark arrestor provided within the muffler. SOLUTION: A spark arrestor body 21 is formed by partitioning a muffler M inner part into a plurality of expansion chambers C1 -C3 mutually communicating through throttle passages 33, 34 within separators 9, 10 and a spark arrestor A. In engine operation, exhaust gas is carried into the silencing cylinder 2 of the muffler M through an exhaust pipe Pe, the exhaust gas in the silencing pipe 2 is carried into the expansion chamber C1 , into the expansion chamber C2 through the restriction passage 33, and then into the expansion chamber C3 through the restriction passage 34, during which the exhaust gas is repeatedly expanded and contracted to effectively reduce the sound. The exhaust gas in the expansion chamber C3 is carried from a non-purifying chamber C3 -D to a purifying chamber C3 -C through a filter 30 to capture and purify the unadorned component, and then released through a tail pipe 23.
