Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a cause to image deterioration in image data stored in a page buffer in the case of magnifying the image. SOLUTION: In the case of reducing an image, a reduction circuit 25 applies reduction processing to the image and a compression circuit 26 compresses the processed image and provides an output to a page buffer 22. In the case of magnifying an image, image data are directly fed to the page buffer 22 not through the reduction circuit 25 and the compression circuit 26. The image data from the page buffer 22 are magnified by a reduction magnification circuit 29 without expansion processing. As a result, it is avoided that a cause to image deterioration such as block distortion caused by the expansion processing is increased through magnification.
