Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cool a furnace cover for molten metal container, e.g. an electric furnace or pan scouring container efficiently and inexpensively while preventing generation of heat track surely on the iron skin of the furnace cover. SOLUTION: The furnace cover cooler comprises a hollow cooling chamber 7 provided in a furnace cover 1, cooling water spray nozzles 3 disposed in the cooling chamber 7, an annular drain path 5 made at the lower end of the cooling chamber 7 over the entire circumference thereof, and a drain port 6 coupled with the drain path 5. A plurality of water flow nozzles 8 are substantially horizontally in the annular drain path 5 at a specified interval in same direction. Current velocity of cooled drain water flowing through the annular drain path 5 is increased by spraying water from the water flow nozzles 8 thus accelerating drainage through the drain port 6.
