Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a the subject compound having a heteroaryl group substituted at 2 position, having good Na<+> /H<-> exchanger inhibiting action and useful as a preventive, therapeutic or diagnostic agent for diseases in which Na<+> /H<-> exchanger participates. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula I [A ring is a (substituted)5-6-membered heteroaryl; B ring is a (substituted)aryl; R and R are each H or a (fluorine-substituted)lower alkyl], e.g. N-[3-phenyl-2-(3-pyridyl) propionyl]guanidine. The compound is preferably obtained by reacting 3-aryl-2- heteroarylpropanoic acid represented by formula II or its reactive derivative with guanidine.
