Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject silica capable of being simply dispersed in a natural or synthetic polymer without causing the coagulation of the silica in a latex stage by chemically binding a specific amount of a specified organic silica to the surface of silica. SOLUTION: This compatibilized silica is obtained by applying (B) >=1wt.% of an organic silicon compound existing as an average tetramer structure having a T /T ratio of >=0.75 measured by Si CPMAS NMR in a chemically bond state to the surfaces of (A) silica. Many commercial precipitated or thermally decomposed amorphous silicas having fine particle diameters and high surface areas can be used as the component A. The component B is preferably derived from an organic silica of the formula [X is a functional group such as amino, mercapto, epoxy or a halogen; (y) is >=0; X1 -Z3 are each H, an alkoxy, a halogen, OH].
