Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance recording quality on a recording paper having irregular surface by employing a plurality of heating elements having curved upper end face in order to obtain a substantially circular recording dot while preventing a recorded image from being collapsed easily. SOLUTION: A thermal head 1 comprises a glaze layer functioning as a thermal insulation layer formed spherically as an independent ridge on the surface of an insulating substrate. A common electrode 5a and an individual electrode 5b are formed, respectively, on the opposite upper surfaces of a heating element. Each heating element is provided with a plurality of corresponding heaters 7. The heating elements are formed along a hemisphere and each individual heater 7 has hemispheric upper end face 7a. Since the upper end face 7a touches a recording paper along circular contact points, the upper end face 7a enters into the recessed face at the time of printing on a rough paper having irregular surface and a uniform recording image can be obtained. Furthermore, a recorded image does not collapse easily because a substantially circular recording dot is obtained. |
