Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture the optical coupling system having high efficiency without any correction and to improve the productivity and lower the manufacture cost of an optical module by charging optically transparent gelled resin which is larger in refractive index than air and smaller than an optical fiber. SOLUTION: On an Si substrate 6 which is previously provided with, for example, a V groove for mounting an optical fiber 2 and a marker for mounting a semiconductor(LD) element 1, the LD element 1 and optical fiber 2 are mounted without any adjustment. Then liquid resin 7 is gelled by a specific method in the gap between the LD element 1 and optical fiber 2 to constitute the optical coupling system. As a preferable example, the optical system is charged by using the gelled resin 7 and then resin 8 that no moisture permeates is charged around it to seal the optical system airtightly. Thus, optical coupling structure is charged in the coupling system between the LD element and optical fiber is formed of the gelled resin having an intermediate refractive index between air and the optical fiber to easily manufacture the optical coupling system having high efficiency without adjustment. |
