Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition capable of imparting a textile product such as clothes with excellent softness and smoothness by using a water-insoluble softening base material and a specific emulsion as essential components. SOLUTION: This softening agent composition contains (A) a water-insoluble softening base material and (B) a dimethylsilicone emulsion having an average particle diameter of <=0.5μm and produced by forming a liquid crystal with a water-insoluble softening base material which may be the same as or different from the component A, mixing the obtained liquid crystal with dimethylsilicone and emulsifying the obtained mixture with water. The content of the component B is preferably 0.1-10wt.%.
