Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To favorably manufacture an aluminum wide beam member excellent in strength making use of a friction stirring and joining method. SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method, a plurality of aluminum shapes 12a, 12b are butted to each other, a pin 14 concentrically provided on a tip of a rod-shaped rotary jig 16 is inserted in the butted part to be relatively moved while integratedly rotated with the rotary jig. In manufacturing a wide flange shape by performing the friction stirring and joining of the butted part 18, thick wall parts 13a, 13b are projected by the height of 0.05-2mm on the side where a part on the end part side to which the aluminum shape is butted is positioned at the rotary jig 16, and the width (w) of the thick wall part satisfies the inequalities r+1<=w<=r+30 (where, ((r) is the radius of the rotary jig). A joined part by the friction stirring and joining is formed across the thick wall parts of the butted aluminum shapes.
