Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely read the mechanically readable hologram.card, which is very hard for forgery and has a good secrecy protective capability, by providing the protective layer, which covers the rugged surface of the substrate, chemically coupling and in direct contact with the layer, to the topographical features which constitute diffraction optical elements. SOLUTION: A mechanically readable hologram.card 100 having a good information protective capability generates a hologram.image in response to irradiation light beams. The card 100 is provided with a rugged surface 113 which include local topographic features 111 constituting diffraction optical elements. Moreover, a protective layer 117 is provided to cover a substrate 109 and the surface 113 and to be chemically coupled and in direct contact with topographic features 111 which constitute diffraction optical elements. When the elements are irradiated by the beams, a hologram.image is generated. Thus, the layer of the card 100 are difficult to peal off mechanically and chemically.
