Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain proper electrostatic charge of a fed toner, to enable development with properly controlling the toner and to ensure satisfactory image quality almost free from fog by adding a specified amt. of an additive to an electrostatic latent image developer. SOLUTION: This electrostatic latent image developer consists essentially of a binder resin and an electric charge controlling agent. The acid value of the binder resin is 1.5-10KOHmg/g. Fine powder of polyvinlidene fluoride having 0.2-0.5μm weight average particle diameter has been added to this developer by 0.05-2 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the developer. The lowering of the surface potential of the non-printing area of a photoreceptor can be prevented. Even when the consumption of a toner on a developing roll is high, proper electrostatic charge of a fed toner is attained, development is enabled while properly controlling the toner and satisfactory image quality almost free from fog is ensured.
