Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber connector which is simply assembled in a short time at connection field. SOLUTION: An optical fiber connector is provided in which urging means 26 which urges a ferrule 24 which includes an optical fiber 22 fixed inside and are polished at its top 23 is placed at the back of a connecting mechanism 25 which connects the optical fiber 22 on the ferrule 24 side with other inserted optical fiber 22a at the opposite side of the top 23 in the ferrule 24. The connecting mechanism 25 has structure including a mechanical splice and is opened or closed by opening member which is inserted into an insert opening 39 opening in the direction of aligning center axis line direction, and therefore the opening/closing operation does not interfere with the urging means 26 to improve operatability.
