Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method in which a small and well apparent molten optical fiber coupler is produced under the condition that disconnection of the optical fiber and degradation of its characteristics are avoided. SOLUTION: A coupler is produced, by removing a given part of covering layers 3 of plural covered optical fibers 1 which consist of an optical fiber 2 and the covering layer 3 around the optical fiber 2 to form exposing part 2a, forming a non-reflection terminal 11 on either of covered optical fibers 1, melting and expanding two exposing parts 2 in the condition that these covered optical fibers 1 are aggregated, and fixing the remained covering layer 3 and the non-reflection terminal 11 to an external reinforcing material 10 with adhesive agent 9b in the condition that exposing parts 2a, a part of both remained covering layers 3, and the non-reflection terminal 11 are placed on or in the external reinforcing member 10. |
