Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly control a fuel injection rate if when few fuel is injected using one injector by setting a fuel injection pulse width referring to a table in which an injector characteristic is housed, when a finding-out fuel injection pulse width is lower than a lower limit. SOLUTION: A device is provided with a fuel injection pulse width calculating means 102 and a comparing means 103 for comparing a calculating fuel injection pulse width with the lower limit value of a linear relation between a fuel injection pulse width which is set by an injector and a fuel injection rate. Especially, a fuel injection pulse width setting means 106 employs a calculating fuel injection pulse width when the calculating fuel injection pulse width is a lower limit value or more. When it is lower than the lower limit value, the table of an injector characteristic by a fuel injection rate in the non-linear range of the lower limit value or less beforehand and the fuel injection pulse width is referred serving a necessary fuel injection rate as a parameter so as to set the fuel injection pulse width. It is thus possible to smoothly control a fuel injection rate when few fuel is injected using one injector.
