Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a driving time for a predetermined recording element for recording by preheating a recording element to be used for next recording during a recording operation using the other recording element. SOLUTION: A preheat signal output from a preheat generation part 402 is selected by a preheat selector 407, thereby feeding electricity preliminarily to heat-generating elements selected according to BE, ODD, EVEN signals output from a block signal generation part 408. A delay part 103 outputs BE', ODD', EVEN' signals delayed by a cycle T of the preheat signal (and a main heat signal). Heat-generating elements selected by the delay signal are driven with a timing of the main heat signal, so that images corresponding to image data are recorded.
