Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a slidability, coating adhesion and corrosion resistance after coating in the surface of a metal by incorporating specified amounts of an organic polymer compound contg. nitrogen atoms and polyvalent anions into a metallic surface treating agent. SOLUTION: This metallic surface treating agent gas a water soluble, water dispersible or emulsifiable form and is prepd. by incorporating an organic polymer compound contg. at least one or more nitrogen atoms or the salt thereof by 0.01 to 10g/L and polyvalent anions by 0.003 to 10g/L. The organic polymer compound in the treating agent has at least one more kinds of resin skeletons among epoxy resin, acrylic resin,. urethane resin, phenol resin, olefin resin and amide resin and has functional groups shown at least by formula I or II. As the polyvalent anions, molybdic acid, tungsten acid, vanadic acid or the like are used. This metallic surface treating agnet is brought into contact with the surface of a metal, which is next washed and dried.
