Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amt. of scale deposited in a polymerizing vessel without degrading the qualities of the product and to decrease the frequency of periodic cleaning, such as cleaning with the vessel kept open, by supplying soft water to the vessel under specified conditions. SOLUTION: In a method for preventing staining of a polymerizing vessel for a polybutadiene rubber latex (pref. a butadiene homoloymer latex or acrylonirile-butadiene copolymer latex obtd. by free-radical emulsion polymn.), a certain amt. of soft water, pref. ion-exchanged or distilled water of pref. 30-90 deg.C, is supplied as showers after and/or during polymeriziation. The soft water is supplied pref. in several portions according to the level of the liq. inside the vessel from the begining of taking out the latex to its end. |
