Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evade the damaging of an epoxy insulating unit on the occasion of abnormal voltage generation to the utmost, by performing a semiconductivity providing treatment to the periphery of the epoxy insulating unit leaving a part as it is, providing an insulating tape wound layer on the remaining exposed part, and forming a shielding tape layer in addition on the semiconductivity providing treatment performed part. SOLUTION: On the peripheral surface of an epoxy insulating unit 2 surrounding the conductor or joint of a power cable 10, a semiconductive paint coating layer 13 is provided leaving a part of its one end as it is, and an insulating tape wound layer 20 is provided in the uncoated part, and a shielding layer is formed by providing a semiconductive rubber tape 21 wound layer, a lead tape 22 wound layer, and a copper mesh tape 23 wound layer successively on the end part of the insulating tape wound layer 20 over onto the semiconductive paint coating layer 13. Consequently, it becomes possible to diminish the possibility of damaging the epoxy insulating unit 2 being a main insulation by causing a flashover to occur over the insulating tape wound layer 20, even if a high-voltage surge which will break an edge cut construction enters.
