Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to improve the traveling property and durability of a magnetic recording medium by successively forming a metallic thin film type magnetic recording layer, carbon protective layer and lubricant layer on one surface of a nonmagnetic base and forming a perfluoropolyether compd. to a specific layer thickness as the lubricant layer. SOLUTION: A primer coating layer 2 consisting of an org. binder dispersed with water-soluble latex consisting essentially of, for example, acrylate is formed on the nonmagnetic base 1 consisting of org. high polymers, such as polyesters and polyolefins and a single ferromagnetic metal, such as Co, Fe or Ni, and a metallic thin-film type magnetic recording layer 3 consisting of a Co-base alloy or Fe-base alloy are formed thereon. A carbon-base protective layer 4 consisting of diamond-like carbon is formed and the perfluoropolyether compd. is applied thereon to a layer thickness of preferably >=0.3 to <=0.9mm to form the lubricant layer 5, by which the reliability of the high-density magnetic recording and reproducing system is enhanced. |
