Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively perform the temperature control of each of substrates under the control of temperature sensors and heaters on the substrates by providing a selecting circuit which selectively outputs a detection signal from a sensor at each of the substrates from a common terminal, on a printing head. SOLUTION: Each of substrates 14 has an electrothermal conversion element and a functional element, and a temperature output terminal provided on each of the substrates 14 is led out by wiring 15 and an output from the terminal is entered to an analog multiplexer 13. Further, an output, from a temperature sensor, which is selected by the analog multiplexer 13 is conducted to the outside through an output terminal 10 installed for electrical connection between the printing head 20 and the outside. An output from the temperature sensor per temperature on each of the substrates 14 is conducted uniformly to the outside by using a decoding signal from a counter 12. Therefore, it is possible to control the temperature of the printing head 20 based on the average value of the temperatures of the substrates 14.
