Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a laminated metal mold by solid phase diffusion joining without melting joint surfaces by holding laminated metallic materials with a pipe, compressing these materials and heating the materials with a burner after removing the pipe and further regulating a temp. and pressure. SOLUTION: A ceramic case 7 is placed on a compressing machine 1. Working jigs 5, joining preventive materials 4 and metallic sheets 2, 3 having <=5mm thickness are laminated in 10 to 500 layers. The half-split pipe 8 is disposed to hold the laminated materials and the laminated materials are pressurized by the compressing machine 1. After the pipe 8 is removed, the burner 6 is disposed to face the inside of a gaseous flame convection chamber A and the laminated metallic sheets 2, 3 are heated by vertically moving the burner 6. The heating temp. is measured by a radiation thermometer 9 and is held at a prescribed set temp. while the change in the pressurizing force from the thermal expansion and thermal shrinkage of the laminated metallic materials 2, 3 is regulated by the compressing machine 1. As a result, the laminated metallic materials 2, 3 are integrated and are solid-phase joined, by which the laminated material metal mold is obtd. Special application steels, carbon steels for structural purposes, alloy steels, etc., are usable for the material of the metallic sheets.
