Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermally bondable release film which is releasable from a self-adhesive when used as a wrapping material by discontinuously coating a thermoplastic film with a release agent releasable from a self-adhesive. SOLUTION: 'Discontinuous coating' means that 50-95% of the surface area of the thermoplastic film is coated. An adhesive used here is one based on a rubber or a synthetic polymer (e.g. an acrylic or urethane resin) and may be based on one polymer or a mixture of two or more polymers. A wax-, silicone-, or fluorine-based release agent can be used here. The release agent is adhered to a thermoplastic resin by thermal drying, thermal curing, etc. A polyolefin, a polyester, and an ethylene-acrylic copolymer can be used here as the thermoplastic resin. Calcium carbonate, kaolin, silica, titanium oxide, etc., are used as fillers. The adhesion of the release agent can be enhanced by subjecting the film to a corona or plasma treatment before the film is coated with the release agent. |
