PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject new compound useful as an agent for the treatment of renal diseases such as nephrotic syndrome and diabetic nephropathy and an agent for the treatment of hepatic diseases such as hepatitis and toxic hepatopathy. SOLUTION: This compound is expressed by the formula I [R is H, amino, hydroxyl group or a (substituted) alkyl; R is H or a lower alkyl], e.g. 3,3'- dithiobis [2,2-dimethylpropion (N-carboxymethyl)amide]. The compound of formula I can be produced by converting a carboxylic acid of formula II into a reactive derivative of carboxylic acid (acid halide substituted with a halogen, active ester substituted with methyl, ethyl, p-nitrophenyl, etc., acid anhydride, etc., of the compound of formula II) with an activation agent and reacting the reactive derivative with an amine component expressed by the formula R R NH.
