Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a supported catalyst system capable of exhibiting highly catalytic activity, not using an excessive amount of a promoter, friendly to the environment, capable of economically preparing a polymer such as polyolefin, by supporting a specific transition metal compound and a promoter on a carrier. SOLUTION: This supported catalyst system is obtained by supporting (A) a transition metal compound (e.g. a metallocene comprising the transition metal as a central metal atom) of the subgroup III, IV, V or VI of the periodic table and (B) a promoter of the formula [R is a halogen, a 1-40C (halo)alkyl, etc.; X is a bifunctional carboncontaining group such as a 1-40C (halo)alkylene or a trifunctional carbon-containing group such as a 1-40C (halo)alkanetolyl; M is an element of the group IIa, IIIa, IVa or Va of the periodic table; (a), (b), (c), (g), (h) and (p) are each 0-10; a=bc; (1), (m) and (n) are each 0 or 1; (i) is 0-1,000; (j) is 1-6; A is a cation of the group Ia, IIa and IIIa of the periodic table of the element] on (C) an inert carrier (preferably one obtained by deactivating a porous solid) not undergoing a covalent bond with the components A and B. |
