Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alginate impression material by compounding an alginate, gelling agent, gelling regulator and specific diatomaceous earth so as to improve the kneadability of the material and facilitate its kneading ad also afford fluidity when it is put to pressure contact and be small in fluidity variance due to its own weight. SOLUTION: This impression material comprises an alginate, gelling agent, gelling regulator, and both disc-shaped and bar-shaped particles of diatomaceous earth. For the disc-shaped diatomaceous earth Particles, the ratio: major axis/ minor axis is pref. (1:1.5) while for the bar-shaped diatomaceous earth particles, the above ratio is pref. 3-20. Furthermore, it is preferable that the weight ratio for the two types of diatomaceous earth is (1:9) to (9:1). This impression material affords impressions of excellent surface profile. |
