Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a zinc 8-oxyquinoline aqueous composition which possesses extremely small solubility in water and is useful as antiseptics, antifouling agents and bactericides by formulating a specific acid with zinc 8-oxyquinoline in a specific proportion. SOLUTION: This composition contains 0.4-20wt.% of a water-soluble acid and 0.2-10wt.% of zinc 8-oxyquinoline and the molar ratio between the water-soluble acid and zinc 8-oxyquinoline is 1-20. Further, in this combination, 0.1-10wt.% of boric acid or a boric acid salt may be formulated thereto. Furthermore, 0.1-20wt.% of a water-soluble alcohol or a water-soluble polar solvent may be formulated thereto. Anticorrosives may be also added to these compositions. As the water-soluble acid, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, carboxylic acids and oxycarboxylic acids are preferably used. When this aqueous composition is utilized as a wood preservative, the degree of permeation into a treating wood can be readily judged. |
