Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately set the projection length of an optical fiber projecting from the connection end surface of a ferrule. SOLUTION: A recessed surface 33 is formed on a ferrule reception surface 32. The recessed surface 33 is as deep as the projection length of the optical fiber 5 projecting from the connection end surface 6 of the ferrule. The ferrule is clamped with ferrule clamping members 35a and 35b and made to abut against the ferrule reception surface 32 with the energizing force of a compression spring 36. A coated optical fiber 3 projects from the connection end surface 16 of the ferrule through the ferrule and abuts against the recessed surface 33. The coated optical fiber 3 is clamped with a coated optical fiber clamping member 41, which is energized toward the ferrule reception surface 32 with the energizing force of a compression spring 42 to press the tip of the optical fiber 5 against the recessed surface 33. In this state, an adhesive is injected into an adhesive injection hole 43 of the ferrule to adhere and fix the optical fiber 5 to the ferrule to obtain the optical connector having the optical fiber 5 projected from the connection end surface 16 by the specific length.
