Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to facilitate an working without any rapid change in the speed and direction and without giving a worker any psychological anxiety, by composing the system so that the advance/return sewing is gradually speeded up from a given lowest speed in either case. SOLUTION: Starting the sewing with the start/stop command switch 2 gradually raises the speed up via the slow start function to execute the advance sewing at a speed set in the programs of the advance sewing speed control program memory unit 12. Depressing the return sewing command switch 4 reverses the cloth sending direction to bring the sewing speed down to the lowest speed set via the lowest speed setting switch 6 to execute the return in accordance with the programs of the lowest sewing speed control program memory unit 10. The programs in the return sewing speed control program memory unit 13 gradually accelerate the return sewing speed. Upon reaching the preset speed it executes the return sewing at a speed set in the programs of the return sewing speed control program memory unit 13.
