Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a printed image from being lifted or offset, when a phase- change ink is used to make a print on a printing medium and thereafter a fusing wheel applies pressure to the medium for fusion. SOLUTION: A printing medium 29 with a deposited phase-change ink passes a gap between a rear face plate 50 and a carriage 30. In this case, the carriage 30 reciprocates, and a fusion wheel 31 applies pressure to the printing medium 29, thereby fusing a printed image onto the medium 29. An oiling roller 44 feeds oil to the contact surface of the fusion wheel 31, thereby preventing the contact surface from sticking to the printed image.
