PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for the control of a color mixture, regarding an electrostatic copying and printing system based on a developer. SOLUTION: This device has a feed container 10 for containing the working solution of coloring developers allowing a customer's selection. In addition, the container 10 is replenished with the solution via the selection of a pertinent volume of principal color components to form the working solution under the control of the replenishment speed of various types of compounds added to a feed dispenser. The device is also fitted with a detection device 40 for measuring the light characteristics of the developers in the container 10 and keeps the actual light characteristics thereof identical to target light characteristics. In this case, the color of the developers in the container 10 is controlled and the ratio of color components in the container 10 is kept at the specified value over a long term via a continuous monitor and a correction with the detection device 40. Also, the approximate volume of the developers having principal color components for the customer selected color is first fed and mixed in the container 10. The resulting developer mixture is continuously monitored and adjusted until the target light characteristics are obtained.
