SOLUTION: This process for producing a low-salt preparation of a condensate based on a sulfonated arom. compd., an aldehyde and/or a ketone, and if necessary at least one compd. selected from among a nonsulfonated arom. compd., urea, and a urea deriv. comprises separating the whole or part of an inorg. acid present after the condensation, if necessary in the form of a salt after neutralization, from the condensate until the inorg. salt content is reduced below 10wt.% of the preparation.
