Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to obtain a sufficient contrast between a base material and a recognition pattern by including specific laminar silicate in a sheet-like base material consisting essentially of a inorg. compd., glass frit and org. binder. SOLUTION: This label blank consists of the sheet-like base material consisting essentially of the inorg. compd., glass frit and org. binder. The sheet- like base material further contains the laminar silicate synthesized by heating talc and alkaline metal component. The material which exhibits a distinct contrast from the recognition pattern after firing is preferable as the inorg. compd. Such inorg. compd. includes the powder of metal oxide ceramics, such as SiO2 when, for example, the base material is formed white. The laminar silicate (white pigment) synthesized by heating the talc and the alkaline metal compd. is compounded with the base material, by which the fired body having the sufficient whiteness is obtd. in spite of firing at a low temp. (about <=450 deg.C).
