Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the ambient temperature of a thermal fixing device from abnormality rising and to effectively eliminate ozone while miniaturizing a filter by disposing the filter so that the air passing direction of the porous part thereof is crossed to the flowing direction of air in an air passage. SOLUTION: The ozone filter 40 is a catalytic system by which the ozone is decomposed and eliminated by utilizing the catalyst of metallic oxide such as manganese oxide. Besides, the filter 40 is provided on a heat radiating plate 50 so that the air passing direction of the porous part 41 thereof is orthogonal to the flowing direction of an air flow unidirectionally flowing in the air passage 31. Thus, an area becoming flow resistance in the passage 31 is reduced and the decrease of air flow rate is suppressed. Therefore, the temperature of the thermal fixing device is prevented from excessively rising. Besides, since the flow velocity of the air passing through the porous part 41 of the filter 40 and including the ozone is reduced in comparison with a conventional case, the staying time of the air in the porous part 41 is prolonged and the elimination coefficient of the ozone is enhanced. Since the filter 40 need not be made thick, is can be miniaturized.
