Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforcing method of earthquake resistance of a building which can be applied from outside the building and is suitable for the building for which it is difficult to increase an earthquake-resistant element such as a brace or a bearing wall or to reinforce a single structural member such as a pillar or a beam. SOLUTION: This is a reinforcing method of earthquake resistance for an existing apartment house 1 or the like and, according to this method, a plane of structure of which the earthquake-resistant performance is insufficient is selected in the apartment house 1. A framework 2' which prescribes the contour of the plane of structure and is portal generally is surrounded by a frame structure 10 made up of pillar-shaped members 11 and beam-shaped members 12, from outside the apartment house 1. Thereby the plane of structure is made a rigid structural plane and reinforcement of the earthquake resistance is given to the apartment house 1 as a whole.
