Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dental filling composition good in transparent feeling by blending a composite ponder in which an inorganic oxide is uniformly dispersed in a vinyl polymer, with a system consisting of a polymerizable monomer with a polymerization initiator and also specifying its refractive index. SOLUTION: This dental filling composition is obtained by blending 40-400 pts.wt. powder of a composite in which the first inorganic oxide is uniformly dispersed in a vinyl polymer matrix with 100 pts.wt. polymerizable monomer and 0.01-10 pts.wt. polymerization initiator. Also, the difference in refractive indices between the polymer of the above monomer and the powder of the composite is made as <=0.1. As the composite, it is preferable that the content of the first inorganic oxide is <=20% and a light transparency in 400-800nm range measured by using a plate of 1.5mm plate thickness, is >=70%. The mean particle diameter of the composite powder is preferably 1-100μm. As the inorganic oxide, the fine particles of a silica is preferable in view of its cost and the ease of its availability. The composition is transparent and excellent in working property of its paste, gloss of its cured resin surface, mechanical strength and wear resistance. |
