Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a sound of flowing refrigerant automatically and positively by a method wherein a flowing state of the refrigerant at an upstream side of an adjusting device is calculated in reference to a condensing temperature and a temperature at an outlet of a heat exchanger at a heat source side, whether or not a noise exceeding an allowable level is generated from the metering device is discriminated in response to a result of this calculation and a degree of opening of the metering device is controlled. SOLUTION: A freezing cycle comprises a compressor 1, a four-way valve 2, an outdoor device including a heat exchanger 3 at a heat source side and an outdoor fan 7, an indoor device including a heat exchanger 4 at a utilization side and an indoor fan 8, an adjusting device 5, and an accumulator 6 for preventing a returning of liquid toward the compressor 1. In this case, there are also provided each of sensing devices 9, 10 for sensing a condensing temperature and an outlet temperature of the heat exchanger 3 at the heat source side. Then, a temperature difference between a condensing temperature and an outlet temperature is calculated by a control device 11 and then it is discriminated whether or not noise exceeding an allowable level is generated from the adjusting device 5. As a result, when the answer is 'yes', a degree of opening of the adjusting device 5 capable of preventing an occurrence of noise is selected to output a control signal 12.
